ARE YOU A RODA PLAYER OR CAPOEIRISTA?

When most people think of Capoeiristas, images of rodas, traveling cultural troupes, Brazilian music and acrobatics spring to mind. Herbalists, artists, spiritualists, real life dashing versions of Zorro and Robin Hood, real life Amazonian Queens, philosophers, writers, politicians, policemen, and vale tudo champions don't spring to mind. When most people think of Capoeiristas...fluid, explosively fast, beautiful to behold, noncontact moves and blows, sexy bodies, smiles and what seems to be esoteric or archaic rituals in a roda may come to mind. The progenitors of Parkour free running, the root and source of breakdancing, one of the first creators of male and female guerilla warfare masters, and healers do not come to mind. When most people think of Capoeiristas...slow, spiritual songs or upbeat songs that set the heart mind and spirit afire spring to mind. Magic does not come to mind. Historians do not come to mind. Some of the greatest huminatarians on Earth do not come to

IF YOU DON'T TRAIN FOR SELF DEFENSE, YOU DON'T PRACTICE CAPOEIRA. PERIOD.

If you don't train to develop effective self defense skills with your Capoeira, then whatever else you do? It's not Capoeira. Period. Capoeira is more than a fighting style, more than a martial art, but it started off with the single focus and purpose and goal of developing powerful, lethal warriors trained in an amalgamation of African martial arts that matured not just in Brazil but in various important places in the Western Hemisphere like Martinique, Belize, Haiti, Cuba, etc for the single purpose of defeating and overcoming slavers and oppressors of all forms and stripes. Period. The spiritual component--which materialized as Candomble in Brazil--is ever present in African martial arts. But at no time does it supersede the mandate to develop potent, functional, efficient, effective fighting skills and lethal warriors trained in the use of martial skills. In fact? Such spiritual training of the quality and ilk that Candomble provides vastly enhances the chance of the C

ATACX GYM MKAO SIRI WAWINDAJI AKA NEGATIVA APPLICATIONS

And this is the video...ATACX GYM MKAO SIRI WAWINDAJI..."Posture of The Hidden Hunter"...popularly miscalled NEGATIVA for centuries. Because my family art of Njia Uhuru Kipura has returned the modernized, functionalized, original comprehensives skills of Kipura self defense APPLICATIONS...which has offended and inspired to more realistic, greater expressions of capoeira many capoeiristas around the world. What do you think of it? Leave comments below, like and share.

WHY ARE CAPOEIRISTAS AFRAID OF CAPOEIRA?

My "Negativa Applications" video has caused quite a stir amongst a number of Capoeiristas on Facebook, Google+ and in various online communities. I find myself heartened by the positive energy, piercing intelligence, perceptiveness and encouragement offered in these discussions by my growing list of supporters. I also find myself alternately amused by and smh@ some of the comments that my detractors make. Basically, my detractors think that Capoeira is a beautiful acrobatic calisthenics routine practiced to Capoeira music in a roda. Contact is very rare, functional training is essentially nonexistent. True sparring is forbidden. Candomble is nowhere to be found. What these detractors practice by and large is a Capoeira influenced musical fitness workout. While they are doing this Capoeira influenced workout, they sing songs about actual Capoeiristas who actually fight and who actually detailed their fighting and living experience with Capoeira. At the end of the tra

TO THOSE THAT DISAGREE

To my Kipura...miscalled "Capoeira"... brethen, and even my esteemed colleagues who disagree with some of my positions, like Winnipeg Capoeira Angola...please consider the following: In my gym, THE ATACX GYM STREET WARRIOR CAPOEIRA, we strike alot with our hands, elbows, knees, heads, shoulders, fists, and use animal hand techniques. We use a wide assortment of throws and grabs, locks, breaks, chokes and more. And we insist that all  of these techniques are in fact founded in authentic Kipura...miscalled "Capoeira"... itself. This insistence of ours is founded in incredibly rigorous, accurate, invincible scientific data, research and knowledge which directly contravenes and destroys the popular fictions that anyone referring to the Afrikan art of Kipura by the Portugues name of "CAPOEIRA" given to Kipura by its blood enemies is simply unaware of, because these well meaning but thoroughly manipulated and misled people credit the propaganda and lies of the
