NJIA UHURU KIPURA-DEFENDING WOMEN AGAINST GUN-WIELDING ATTACKERS WITH THE KUFAGIA SWEEP
Njia Uhuru Kipura - Defending Women Against Gun-Wielding Attackers with the Kufagia Sweep
This really happened. A man armed with a gun threatened a student of mine...a beautiful young college student...with rape. My student's identity will of course not be revealed by me, for her own protection. But the general details below correspond with the information she gave me. She did in fact use the psychological manipulation of pretending she was more panicky afraid than she actually was...drawing on the lessons of Maria Navalha, Yemaya, Esu, and Anansi that I taught her. She raised her arms up, palms out indicating she was unarmed and surrendering, while sobbing:"Ohgawdohgawdohgawd!" Her arms were bent 90 degrees, she let real tears fall from her eyes, and her whole body shook in fear as she backed away.
The stupid guy bought her act hook line and sinker, making the man overconfident. He brought the gun closer to her while cussing her and telling her to shut up don't move or he'll blow her brains out.
The guy reached out with both arms simultaneously, sticking the gun in her face while reaching around the back of her head to try to grab her long curly wavy dreadlocks. At the same time he hissed:"I'm going to rape you so harrrd..!"
That's when she pounced on him like a jungle cat.
Using Mwendo wa Kasi...speed movement...she moved her head out the way of the gun, grabbed his gun hand and arm dragged him by her, cracked his left orbital bone with a jumping Water Buffalo Headbutt from Oya ( stunning him and causing him to grunt ) then sank her teeth. Hard. Into the fleshy part of the thumb holding the gun.
He instantly dropped the gun in shocked surprised pain, and instinctively. No thought applied. The animal instincts made him push at her head. Hard. With his other hand.
And that's when she nailed him with the Kufagia. He flipped ker-SPLAT flat on his back. He made bad retching sounds and arched his back because he landed wrong, knocking the air out of him. With the grace of Osun and street savvy of Maria Navalha, she faked a left punch at his head and when he tried to defend it, she dropped a Mbinu ya Oya Mkao Chini Teke across his prone jaw with her right foot. Giving him a bloody mouth, cracked tooth and hairline fracture.
He tried to talk my student into letting him go as she called the police on her cellphone and stood between him and his discarded gun. My student said:"NO!!!"
That's when the piece of crap tried to get up and wobble fast...because he couldn't run... away, but my student...trained in sprinting, because we teach the great importance of running fast at my ATACX GYM...ran him down inside of five steps and hit him with Popo Tekeanayeruka aka Voo de Morceago aka Flying Bat Kick, smashing him into the trashbin.
The police came, and quickly arrested him. They called the ambulance and the EMTs mentioned he had a fractured eye socket. The unpleasant reality of my student getting arrested ( she IS Black, her attacker IS White, and this IS the USA; being totally innocent may not be wnough to avoid punishment; ask Jonathan Majors) came up. My student showed the cops her techniques and they 100% believed her innocence and...given the nearly 120 pound difference between herself and her attacker...the cops asked zero further questions. She offered to call me and said...rightly... I'll vouch for her, but at her urging they saw me on YouTube and literally saw me showing Kufagia on my much larger friend Will ( shout out Will! ) so they believed her all the more.
In situations where women may face the threat of a gun-wielding assailant, the Njia Uhuru Kipura martial art, with its emphasis on empowerment and self-defense, can be a valuable tool. The Kufagia sweep technique, inspired by the Capoeira Rasteira, proves particularly effective in disarming and neutralizing an armed attacker.
Addressing Gender-Specific Threats:
Women can find themselves in unique situations that require specific self-defense strategies. Njia Uhuru Kipura recognizes these challenges and provides techniques tailored to empower women against armed adversaries.
Key Njia Uhuru Kipura Techniques:
Kufagia Sweep:
Adapted for women's self-defense, the Kufagia sweep becomes a powerful tool to counter a gun-wielding attacker. Its low, sweeping motion allows for quick and unexpected disarmament, leveraging the element of surprise.
Kuvutia: Meaning "to pull," Kuvutia involves redirecting the force of the attacker while maintaining control. This technique is particularly useful in gaining leverage after executing the Kufagia sweep, ensuring the defender can maintain the upper hand.
Mwendo wa Kasi: Translating to "speed movement," Mwendo wa Kasi emphasizes rapid and decisive actions. Women practicing Njia Uhuru Kipura can employ this technique to enhance their response time and create openings for counterattacks.
Empowerment Through Training:
Training sessions designed specifically for women can focus on scenarios that address gender-specific threats. By practicing the Kufagia sweep and associated techniques, women can build confidence and a sense of empowerment in their ability to defend themselves.
Conclusion:
Njia Uhuru Kipura, with its focus on practical self-defense, equips women with the tools to face gun-wielding attackers. The Kufagia sweep, when mastered through dedicated training, becomes a potent technique for ensuring the safety and well-being of women in potentially dangerous situations.
