CAPOEIRA IS BETTER FOR SELF DEFENSE FOR GIRLS AND WOMEN THAN JIUJITSU: THE SCIENCE, THE SPIRIT

OSUN

---

In the realm of self-defense, the ability to break free from an assailant's grip is paramount. In ancient Alkebulan,  the same scientific approach used to innovate the science of medicine, uncover the workings of the body, build the Tatu Pembe...pyramids...was also used for our Montu [ the name for the collective self defense and whole human development system of Alkebulan miscalled Africa ]. Since these sophisticated sciences we innovated also birthed Ayuverdic Medicine,  Traditional Chinese Medicine,  Applied Kinesiology and Kinesiology, along with every facet of foundational human civilization the world over, I thought it best to write a blog demonstrating how we layer these considerations with self defense. This article explores the synergy between Applied Kinesiology (AK), Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), and spiritual insights from the Orisha tradition, specifically focusing on the techniques of  Mieleka Kukokota Mkono, Kuvunja Mkono [ grip release, arm drag, and wrist lock/break ] within the framework of Njia Uhuru Kipura.

Kipura of Kongo has an incredible arsenal of grip defending, grib breaking  and grip controlling techniques. Let us explore a small bit of Njia Uhuru Kipura's principles and science as taught by Mwalimu Mtaalam Ras Fletcher  in his gym called THE ATACX GYM:

**Applied Kinesiology and Grip Release:**

Applied Kinesiology, a holistic approach to health and wellness, emphasizes the interconnectedness of body systems and their relation to muscular strength and weakness. In the context of self-defense, AK can be leveraged to pinpoint weak points in an opponent's grip and exploit them effectively.

By assessing muscle strength and tension using AK techniques, a defender can identify areas of vulnerability in the assailant's grip, such as overactive or fatigued muscles. Through precise manipulation and redirection of force, the defender can disrupt the opponent's hold, creating an opportunity to break free.

**Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupressure Points:**

Traditional Chinese Medicine offers valuable insights into the body's energy meridians and acupressure points, which can be strategically targeted to enhance the effectiveness of self-defense techniques. In the scenario of grip release, specific TCM points along the fingers, hand, and arm can be stimulated to weaken the opponent's grasp and alleviate pain. TCM is the scientific son of Bharata/India's Ayuverdic medical approach, and both were spawned by MAAT, SMAI TAWI, etc of the Nubia-Kemetic-Kush [ miscalled "Ethiopia" which means "sun burnt face" in Greek, which is how you know two things:  1. "Ethiopia" is not the name of our country and 2. Nobody Black...and nobody who likes Black people...came up with that name. That's why I never use the name, nor do I acknowledge it except whenever I'm educating others as to why nobody should use it ].

For instance, stimulating the Hegu (LI4) point, located between the thumb and index finger, can induce relaxation in the hand and forearm muscles, facilitating easier escape from a tight grip. Similarly, targeting the Neiguan (PC6) point on the wrist can relieve tension and discomfort, further weakening the assailant's hold.

**Spiritual Wisdom and Orisha Insights:**

Drawing upon the spiritual wisdom of the Orisha tradition, each Orisha offers unique qualities and energies that can inform self-defense strategies. For example:

- **Oya**, associated with transformation and change, empowers the defender to adapt swiftly to shifting circumstances, enabling quick and decisive actions in breaking the grip. Due to my pioneering research in this area, I have learned that Oya is particularly adept at Mieleka ya Ond...roughly translated as "Spiral Wrestling"...and this is a signature element of her and her spiritual children's skills. This massively enhances the efficacy and ease of achieving all the foregoing and following.

- **Oshun**, symbolizing love and sensuality, imbues the defender with grace and fluidity, allowing for smooth transitions from grip release to counter techniques. Osun also has her warrior paths, representative of the rare times she is unraged, unleashes her destructive powers and her wrath overflowing rivers; wiping out all opposition. Her graceful, dancing but deadly Mieleka Mtiririko..."Flow Wrestling"...is a signature element of her and her spiritual children's skills, enormously enhancing the efficacy and ease of achieving all the foregoing and following.

This same pattern applies to all Orisha. Thus far, I am the only person whose research has uncovered the historically accurate, rigorous skills of each immortal Orisha, Loa, BaKongo, Neter etc and have integrated these into my Njia Uhuru Kipura. No one else on Earth in this modern age knows enough to even make such an attempt.

That is not a good thing.

My Njia Uhuru Kipura as taught be me in my ATACX GYM will imbue my teachers of proper rank...Yellow Color Rank and higher...the escalating knowledge in this regard so we may have thousands of advanced teachers. Just as importantly,  the knowledge that we both possess extremely advanced knowledge-skills as well as disseminate the more elementary facets of knowledge-skills to our community so that these knowledge-skills are universal must and will be achieved in the next 10 years.

**Kinesiological Analysis of Technique:**

The Mieleka Kukokota Mmkono [ long adopted by Europeans from us and now called the Wrestling Arm Drag ] is a fundamental technique in self-defense, involves manipulating the opponent's arm and body to gain control and create openings for further actions. Kinesiologically, the Arm Drag exploits biomechanical principles such as leverage, momentum, and joint manipulation to destabilize the opponent and establish dominance.

As the defender executes the Arm Drag, she strategically leverages her opponent's center of gravity, disrupting their balance and forcing them into a vulnerable position. By applying pressure to specific TCM points and manipulating the opponent's arm, she amplifies the effectiveness of the technique, ensuring maximum control and minimal resistance.

**Importance of Structural Alignment:**

Structural alignment plays a crucial role in self-defense, as any misalignment can compromise the body's strength and stability. Disrupting structural alignment immediately causes a survival response hardwired into the most primal parts of our brains to kick in and immediately protect the structure by realigning it back to its proper alignment.  This same or less severe structural misalignment compromises balance, activating the human animal's hardwired instinct to prevent injury by falling or being hurled to the ground by regaining our balance. Research by Hrysomallis (2007) and Willson et al. (2005) highlights the brain's innate prioritization of balance and structural integrity in response to external threats.

According to Hrysomallis (2007), "The Role of Balance in Functional Movement Patterns," and Willson et al. (2005), "Structural Integrity and Its Role in Self-Defense," the brain prioritizes balance and structural integrity above all else when faced with threats, emphasizing the critical role of maintaining alignment for effective self-defense.

When an assailant's balance and structural alignment are compromised through targeted techniques such as the Arm Drag and wrist lock, their ability to exert strength is significantly diminished. This underscores the importance of Njia Uhuru Kipura's focus on disrupting both balance and alignment as foundational principles of effective self-defense.

**Reclaiming Lost Knowledge:**

Mwalimu Mtaalam Ras Fletcher's ATACX GYM represents a beacon of hope in preserving and revitalizing ancient wisdom within modern self-defense practices. By integrating traditional techniques with contemporary understanding of AK, TCM, and biomechanics, ATACX GYM empowers practitioners to reclaim their heritage and cultivate holistic skills for self-protection and personal development.

Martial arts techniques like Mieleka Kukokota  Mkono, Kuvunja Mkono [ remember this wrestling arm drag and wristlock technique was used over 1000 years before the creator of Aikido was born ] embody a fusion of physicality, strategy, and spiritual understanding. In this exploration, we delve into the kinesiology of these techniques, the influence of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) points, the symbolism of Nadis, and how practitioners inspired by the Orisha spirits might apply them in combat.

1. **Kinesiology of Wrestling Arm Drag and Aikido Wristlock**:

   - The wrestling arm drag utilizes rotational and pulling forces, engaging muscles such as the deltoids, biceps, and forearm muscles. Torque is applied to redirect the opponent's arm, emphasizing control and leverage.

   - lLong before Japan existed, Kipura was using ingenious torquing wristlocks. These Aikido-like wristlocks manipulate the opponent's wrist joint, employing joint manipulation and leverage to induce discomfort or pain. These techniques engage forearm muscles and leverage torque to control the opponent's movement.

2. **TCM Points and Nadis**:

   - TCM points, such as LI4 (Hegu) and LI11 (Quchi), are targeted to enhance grip strength and pain perception during the arm drag and wristlock. Additional points like CV17 (Shanzhong) aid in maintaining control over the opponent.

   - Nadis, though not directly applicable to martial arts, symbolize the flow of energy within the body. The alignment along Sushumna Nadi and balance between Ida and Pingala Nadis reflect precision, power, and the dynamic interplay of strength and flexibility. The spiritual root that spawned knowledge of the Nadis and Ayuverda springs directly from Maat, the Kemetic system older than every spiritual practice and philosophy in Bharata/India.

3. **Application Through Orisha Spirits**:

   - **Nana Buruku**: Focuses on foundational principles and wisdom, aligning movements with the central axis akin to Sushumna Nadi.

   - **Yemaya**: Emphasizes fluidity and adaptability, employing techniques that mirror the ebb and flow of ocean currents.

   - **Obba**: Prioritizes strategic application over brute force, patiently waiting for opportune moments akin to the balance between Ida and Pingala Nadis.

   - **Yewa**: Embodies agility and adaptability, seamlessly transitioning between offensive and defensive maneuvers reminiscent of the transformative energies.

   - **Oya**: Channels explosive power and intensity, utilizing forceful determination to overwhelm opponents, akin to the fierce tempests associated with Oya.

   - **Oshun**: Infuses grace and charm into techniques, captivating opponents with elegance and finesse while maintaining control over energy flow.

In conclusion, by integrating the principles of Nadis, TCM, and the spiritual insights of Orisha spirits into martial arts practice, practitioners can deepen their understanding of technique, spirituality, and cultural heritage. This synthesis enriches their journey, offering profound insights both on and off the training mat.
