Title: The Rich Legacy of Kipura: Blades of Kongo and Knife Defense

What happened to Capoeira? Where did its legendary warriors and especially their much feared [ even into the 1980's in Brazil ] skilled knife fighters go? Truth is, those skills never belonged to "Capoeira", a misnomer created in 1712 by Raphael Bluteau  [ a racist White Catholic priest who disliked both Alkebulans miscalled Africans and their nonCatholic faith ] as he accidentally mispronounced the true name of the art...Kipura...via his Portuguese accent. If you mispronounce Kipura using Portuguese pronounciation? You get a word sounding something like "Capoeira". That's what Raphael Bluteau did.

So we have to go back to Kongo and its Kipura to find the source and the skills that these same warriors displayed in Brazil and all over the world.

In the heart of Alkebulan, a land once erroneously called Africa, lies a rich and storied tradition of blade craftsmanship. The indigenous people of Kongo, known for their mastery of blades, have a history steeped in the art of Kipura, which encompasses both the creation of knives and swords and their formidable use in combat. As we delve into this heritage, we'll also explore how the blade skills of Kipura have been preserved and modernized for self-defense by Mwalimu Mtaalam Ras Fletcher of THE ATACX GYM.

**The Legacy of Kongo Blades:**

Kongo, a country within the continent of Alkebulan, has earned a well-deserved reputation for the mastery of blades. Their craftsmanship spans a wide range of knives and swords, each unique in design and purpose. These blades were not only utilitarian tools but also symbols of cultural identity and craftsmanship.

* Ngulu (Kongo Knife), Konda Knife, Pembe (Tusk Sword), Ngombe Knife, and more - these blades have their own distinctive features, with curved blades and ornate handles.

* The Kaskara Sword, though not exclusive to Kongo, found its way into the hands of Kipura warriors and added to their formidable arsenal.

**Kipura Warriors: Legends of Blade Skills:**

Kipura warriors, armed with these exquisite blades, developed a legendary reputation. Their combat skills bordered on the extraordinary, and numerous accounts by travelers and traders tell of Kipura warriors outdrawing gunmen in close-quarters battle. They possessed uncanny reflexes, timing, intuition, and accuracy, able to draw and throw knives, spears, axes, or fire arrows with deadly precision before their adversaries could react.

**Preserving the Legacy:**

In contrast to the cardiovascular-focused Capoeira practiced worldwide, Mwalimu Mtaalam Ras Fletcher has dedicated multidecades of study to uncovering the blade skills of original Kipura. He has refined and modernized these skills to address the realities of street self-defense in a global context. His art, known as Njia Uhuru Kipura or "Kipura's Way of Freedom," is taught at THE ATACX GYM.

**The ATACX GYM's Approach:**

Mwalimu Mtaalam Ras Fletcher's approach not only retains the cardiovascular, social, fun, dance, and cultural aspects of Kipura but also enhances them. Practitioners of Njia Uhuru Kipura become well-rounded individuals, proficient in self-defense and holistic human development. The art not only honors the legacy of Kipura blades but also adapts them to contemporary self-defense needs.

In conclusion, the indigenous people of Kongo, steeped in the tradition of blade craftsmanship, have left an indelible mark on history. The legacy of Kipura lives on, thanks to the dedication of individuals like Mwalimu Mtaalam Ras Fletcher, who continue to refine and adapt these skills for the modern world. The art of Njia Uhuru Kipura offers a unique blend of cultural heritage and effective self-defense, ensuring that this remarkable legacy endures.
